Every great loaf of bread tells a story, and ours is born right out of the heart of Garden Grove. Mystique’s Bistro is a boutique, home-based kitchen where small-batch artisan baking meets total imagination.
We choose to run our bakery with open minds, neighborly warmth, and a fierce commitment to creating an inclusive, LGBTQ-friendly, and playful space for everyone in our community. We are firm believers that the absolute best food in the world is made with time, patience, and a genuine sense of home—and we treat every order as an invitation to share that warmth with your family.
Found in the Kitchen, Built on Love
If you ever peeked into our kitchen on a production day, you wouldn't just see flour flying and timers going off. You’d catch the two of us (Brianna and Ryan) dancing between the counters, stealing hugs and kisses, and genuinely losing ourselves in the joy of creating together. We found our love and happiness in the kitchen, and every recipe we develop is specifically designed to embody that exact feeling of comfort, safety, and affection.
Brianna: The Artistry & Magic of the Dough
With years of dedicated experience and a relentless passion for pastry design, Bri handles the creative heart of the bakery. To her, fermentation is an enchanting art form. Taking simple elements like flour, water, and wild cultures and coaxing them over 24 to 48 hours into a golden, blistering masterpiece is her ultimate joy. Her dream has always been to build a whimsical refuge from the daily grind through comforting, elevated treats.
Ryan: The Precision & Obsession of the Roast
An extraordinary pastry demands an equally exceptional cup of coffee. Ryan handles the technical and roasting side of our beverage program. Meticulously sourcing high-quality green coffee beans, Ryan uses our in-house specialty roaster to design heat profiles that lock in clean, vibrant flavors. He’s also the proud pilot of our commercial-grade Oliver 777 Professional Slicer, ensuring your loaves are cut to absolute perfection.
Life, Lore, and the Mystique Mini-Zoo
While we are deeply dedicated to our craft, we are a proud family-first business at heart. When the oven lights go down, we step out into the world to protect our family time together—usually with a massive stack of books in hand. We are an entire household of voracious readers, devouring everything from the fantasy romance of ACOTAR to the fast-paced mysteries of the Dan Brown series, and the timeless adventures of Lord of the Rings and King Arthur.
Unapologetic Nerds & Wilderness Explorers
When we aren't reading or hanging out with our animals, we are fully embracing our inner nerds. We love gaming together as a family, whether we're fighting for a Number 1 Victory Royale in Fortnite, getting lost in the deep roleplay of Baldur's Gate 3, grinding end-game builds in Diablo, or cozying up with Love and Deepspace and Infinity Nikki. And if old-school arcade vibes call, you can find us throwing down in Mortal Kombat.
But we don't just stay inside! To balance out our inner geeks, we love loading up our Jeep and quads to go off-roading, breaking away from the grid to camp out in the deep wilderness, catching sunsets at the beach, exploring local coffee shop crawls, or heading out to vibrant anime conventions.
Every ounce of adventure, love, and whimsy we experience out in the world flows right back into the starters we feed and the dough we shape. Thank you for being a part of our family's journey and helping us build toward our ultimate dream of a brick-and-mortar storefront!
The Mystique Mini-Zoo Family
We happen to run a literal zoo at home. Our household is ruled by some extra distinct, lovable personalities:
Our tiny, thumbed mutant cat savior. She is comically always in charge, exceptionally cute, and runs this entire operation with an iron paw from her window perch.
Affectionately known as "Officer Bailey." While she is a giant, sweet teddy bear at heart, she takes her role as our official kitchen perimeter guard dog and patrol captain very seriously.
Dorky, wonderfully goofy, and absolutely full of bright sparkle—just like her iconic namesake, Dolly Parton! She handles our daily entertainment program.
Our precious Oreo puppy. Willie is fiercely loyal, incredibly kind, and packed with a spunky, fun-loving energy that keeps our kitchen spirits flying high.
Our majestic, 20+ year old desert tortoise. He models the ultimate slow-fermentation philosophy. Since he is bound to outlive us all, our official long-term business plan is just to leave him the keys to inherit the entire Bistro enterprise!

No dream grows entirely on its own, and the whimsical world of Mystique’s Bistro is anchored by a beautiful circle of family love, guidance, and legacy. We are incredibly blessed to have four distinct pillars who have shaped who we are, given us the strength to pursue our passion, and inspired us to look toward the future.
First and foremost, Brianna’s parents have been a lifelong compass of encouragement, teaching her from a young age to always follow her heart and do what she loves. They instilled in her the essential business savvy needed to navigate a boutique craft, and they remain deeply woven into our daily kitchen adventures—willingly acting as our most trusted food testers, honest flavor critics, and indispensable helpers whenever the production bowls stack up high.
Alongside them stand our incredible Aunt and Uncle, who serve as a magnificent second foundation of unconditional love and guidance in our lives. When we set out to establish our professional careers and build a meaningful life for our family in Orange County, they opened a beautiful door for us—providing the very home base where our child could thrive and where the dream of this bakery was first born. Their belief in us gave us the structural launchpad to plant deep, permanent roots in this community.
Completing this circle of foundational grace are Ryan’s parents, who are our ultimate cheerleaders, the true believers, and the hopeful romantics of our journey. They have always taught him the timeless values of working hard, staying absolutely true to oneself, and having the courage to follow his heart wherever it leads. Their steady faith and joyful, loving energy keep our spirits high and remind us daily of the beauty of chasing a dream.
Finally, bridging our roots to the future, stands our fourth and most precious pillar: our son. He is the ultimate heartbeat of our ambition and the reason why we strive every single day to become the absolute best versions of ourselves. We push our boundaries and pour our souls into this bistro because we want to show him what it looks like to live bravely and build something with your own two hands. He inspires us to be a force for good and a source of genuine love in this world—because he is the one who will inherit it. Our deepest prayer is to shape a legacy for him that is forever rooted in love, pure happiness, and boundless dreams.
Together, this incredible circle has woven a flawless safety net of love beneath us. Every single loaf we bake and every cup of coffee we roast is a direct reflection of the values, hard work, and heart they have poured into our lives.

Every single artisanal sourdough loaf, decadent fudge brownie, hand-rolled cookie, and small-batch coffee bag that leaves our kitchen represents something much larger than a delicious morning treat. Each purchase brings our family one step closer to a grander architectural dream—and we are building that future with our own two hands right outside our kitchen window.
The 1969 Clark Cortez Mobile Bistro
When we aren't heavily buried in baking dough or precision-profiling coffee beans, you can find us right outside on the side of our cottage, covered in grease and sawdust, working tirelessly on our next big milestone. We are completely restoring a classic 1969 Clark Cortez motorhome from the ground up, transforming it into a fully customized, whimsical mobile bistro and food truck.
We are meticulously renovating this vintage beauty to meet the absolute strictest Orange County Environmental Health safety standards. Our goal is to have our gorgeous, retro mobile kitchen hitting the open road within the next few years—allowing us to roll up to premier local festivals, massive community events, and neighborhood gatherings across Southern California to connect with even more of our beautiful neighbors face-to-face.

But the food truck is just the launching pad. Our ultimate, North-Star destination is to establish a permanent, physical brick-and-mortar home for Mystique’s Bistro. We want to build a true, cozy "slice of life" neighborhood haven.
We visualize a whimsical storefront where family, lifelong friends, neighborhood regulars, and brand-new guests can step through the doors and instantly feel safe, embraced, and completely wrapped in warmth. We want to create a space where you can curl up in a cozy corner with a fantasy novel, crush your remote work goals, listen to our favorite eclectic kitchen playlists, and breathe in the rich, intoxicating aromas of fresh sourdough clearing the ovens and crafty specialty coffee being poured by hand. It will be a sanctuary designed entirely around love, happiness, connection, and shared vibes.
